sessions To begin a coaching session, there will be discussion around the nature of your problems, as well as your dreams and ambitions. They may not feel like dreams at this stage, they may simply be a better way to live, or avoiding wanting to hide or die. This stage will include setting sights on some of the goals, as well as discovering the extent of the problems. This will move on to the ‘active’ part of coaching: how to approach problems, how to think through them, how to act through them. The process does not end at the end of the session: there will be work for you to do between sessions: practicing, facing fears, trying different approaches, examining beliefs and thinking in new ways. Looking at the world from a new perspective. Your experiences with this work will be brought to the next session, and at each stage, you will be moved forward, until you are either able to move forward on your own, or you have achieved what you wanted to achieve. I will be demanding of you, although not to the extent of disciplinary coaching. Or it may be that you need support in a difficult process rather than fixing problems: overcoming the effects of illness, mental or physical, of abuse, coming to terms with rape, saving (or ending) your marriage, keeping you from obsessive use of porn or Second Life, stopping smoking, helping you form healthy adult relationships, releasing your creative self. |
